Ilex opaca commonly known as Greenleaf Holly is appropriate for Zone 5-9. This evergreen is a cultivated hybrid of the native American Holly. It is an upright, pyramidal growing plant with spiny, medium green leaves and it produces bright red berries. It is a terriffic choice as a specimen, for planting on corners of large buildings, and for use as a screen. Height 20-25ft. Spread 10-15ft.
